Responsibilities:


1. Reviews plant electrical related operational and equipment problems that result in poor performance, reduced availability, loss of efficiency, or loss of capacity; determines root causes, and proposes and implements solutions to the problem areas.
2. Investigates and analyzes complex disturbances and failures and identifies the causes. Develops and implements solutions.
3. Keeps abreast of latest electrical tests, designs and other industry innovations.
4. Prepares cost and schedule estimates for new electrical projects.
5. Prepares project and technical specifications, and assures industry and Mirant electrical standards are addressed.
6. Prepares requisitions for materials, labor and engineering assistance.
7. Assists with relevant input to the annual budget.

Qualifications:


• Ten years experience with high voltage equipment in electric power plant industry.
• Knowledge of power plant systems
• Fundamental knowledge of design, operation and inspection of generators, motors, batteries, relays, circuit breakers, switchgear , transformers and field instrumentation
• Understanding of equipment testing, evaluation, calibration techniques, etc.
• Ability to read and interpret piping and instrument diagrams (P&ID)
• Ability to work under pressure in a real-time environment
• Must have experience in providing technical support for large electric power generation systems operations, maintenance, and

Responsibilities:

• Maintains accurate records of machinery conditions and related history

3. Plan, schedule maintenance activities (Preventive, Predictive, Corrective and Outage) and manage electrical, instrumentation, relays, and breakers, transformer and controls maintenance backlogs with Maximo.

6. Prepare Operations and Maintenance (O&M) and Capital budgets as they relate to the E&C area of responsibility. Prepare outage cost and schedule networks. Monitor and report variances on a regular basis.
7. Coordinates and supervises contract labor.
8. Responsible for bid specifications and evaluations of goods and services.

10. Effective use of the Maximo work order and materials program.


Qualifications:


* Thorough understanding of the principles, practices and procedures of coal-fired, oil and gas fired power plant electrical and controls maintenance as demonstrated through a minimum of 10 years of power plant experience.
* This should include experience in diagnosing and correcting E&C problems, as well as experience with diagnostic testing procedures and repair practices for medium and large electric motors, generators, transformers and excitation systems and the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and FCD's .
* Good oral and written communications, administrative capabilities and planning and analytical skills.
* Ability to supervise, direct, motivate, train and discipline subordinate personnel.
